There was an Ananias Allen from NJ who came south - to Orange County, NC and then the family moved westward in NC to Burke/Caldwell County.they were Dutch and married Dutch. They probably were part of the New Amsterdam/New York Dutch folks - some moved on up the Hudson River establishing trading posts and Forts. In the Ananias Allens of NC the name also is passed down in the family....interesting if there were connections to your family.
This is not my Allen family - and a lot of info is on the web - I don't have any more information, except can look at Ananias Allen in Caldwell County Library where I live. There is a file on him.
I do know that many people moved back and forth between Maryland and Pennsylvania and New Jersey and Pennsylvania in the early years of "Mason Dixon Line" disagreements.
