Over the past several years I have posted requests for any information anyone could give me on my ggrandfather, Jonathan Allen, born about 1820 in either Kentucky or Indiana. I am still searching. In 3 different census records he is shown to be born in Indiana about 1817. Other sources say he was born in Perry County, Ky about 1822. Furthermore some sources say he married Mary Turner in 1837 and Rhoda Riley in 1847. The Mormon library says he married Rhoda Riley in 1837. This past year I found a Family Tree that listed him with the notation, "born in Virginia moved to Indiana then Kentucky. I could not find any other reference to this but I did find some interesting facts about Joseph Allen, purported to be Jonathan's father. Joseph was born in Bedford, Virginia on Aug 14, 1794. He married Elizabeth Cadwallader in Greene County Ohio (near Dayton) in 1815 and died in Hendricks County Indiana (near Indianapolis) on Nov 9, 1878. These dates and migration route are entirely consistent with an 1817 birth date in Indiana for Jonathan. This same source indicates that Joseph's parents were Jackson Allen and Sarah Bond. Can anyone provide any info to either support or disprove this sequence of events?
A second interesting fact is that this source says that Rhoda Riley's parents were William Riley and Sussanah Smith. Jonathan named his first daughter Sussanah and his first son Joseph. Were these children named after their grandparents? If so, it would support an 1837 marriage of Jonathan and Rhoda. I have been to the courthouse in both Breathitt and Perry counties and neither has any record of a Jonathan marriage to anyone.
Any info that anyone has can be posted in a reply to this post or email me direct at firstname.lastname@example.org. Due to computer failure I have lost all the email addresses I had saved from these posts. Would Mariah Allen, Danielle Hite, Joyce House-Reeves and Cindy Howser please respond to me so I can recover your addresses.
