Have you gotten your DNA results yet?My father and two other distant cousins who all descend from John Allen b. ca 1770 died 1841 in Scott County VA have tested also.
I found it interesting you Samuel settled on Fishing Creek in Pulaski Co. KY. My line from the above John Allen left Scott County VA and went to Rockcastle County which as I'm sure you know, adjoins Pulaski. His wife was Esther Jane Neil who's grandfather and father was born in Ireland, and ended up in Rockbridge VA where the grandfather died. His son's then migrated on into Greeen, Sullivan, and Claiborne Co's TN and then a couple went back up into Lee, Wythe, Tazewell and Scott Co's, VA. Family tale from two totally different descendants of the old grandfather Patrick Neil state that he came from County Cork Ireland.Makes me wonder if my John or his father may have come from there too.
Also I have another Allen line through my mother's side of the family, that were in Russell, and Casey County.. also adjoinging Pulaski County.
My Mother's Allen's were from the Robert Allen who came from Ireland to Augusta County VA.His first wife was Deborah Montgomery and he married second to Sarah CATHEY Givens.we are from the second marriage.
I'm not real happy with how the Allen family DNA page is set up, it makes it very hard to see if I may be chasing the wrong group of Allen's since there is no link between kit nubmers and the Earliest Known Ancestor. They do not have to put recent desendant names.. but for those of us who have mulitple ( for me 3 Allen lines) family lines and who have sniffed the tracks of every Allen that has passed through VA, it would be nice to know if someone from a line that I think may have a possiblity of being mine has tested and how close the results are.
Well I guess I've said enough. Good luck on your quest.
