Below is the Corrected article on Isaac Allen which was written by Folks Huxford and included in the Pioneers of Wiregrass Volume 5, pages 541 & 542:
"Allen, Isaac (pg. 24): He was not a son of Lydall Allen or a grandson of Charles Allen, R.S., as was stated. That statement was based on information furnished some of the Isaac Allen descendants by Mrs. Sara S. Erwin, a genealogist, of Ware Shoals, S.C. The late editor B.T. Allen of "The Pearson, Tribune" of Pearson, Ga., was born 1852 and was a nephew of the Isaac Allen, the subject of the sketch in Vol. 2; and he wrote that the following Allen brothers came with their parents (unnamed) from northwestern North Carolina to South Georgia in the early 1800s and first settled in Telfair County, viz: Henry Allen, William Allen, John Allen, Dennis Allen (the father of Editor Allen), Isaac Allen, James Allen, Diavid Allen and Benj. F. Allen. He wrote that William and Henry Later returned to N.C., that William's son, William Allen, b. 1803, moved to Ohio where he became Governor, U.S. Senator and held other offices. He wrote that his Uncle Isaac settled on Dry Lake in Thomas County. The will of Lyddall Allen in Laurens Co. S.C., shows he had a son named Isaac but had no other sons as above given by Editor Allen. The 1850 census of Thomas County shows Isaac Allen born in N.C., which co-incides with Editor Allen's statement. The compiler knew about Editor Allen's writhings at the time he wrote Volume 2, but accepted Mrs. Ervin's statement as correct; but since then, on further research, has concluded she was wrong and that her Isaac was a different Isaac Allen. (2) Isaac, the subject, was not born Feb. 10, 1778, that being a date given by Mrs. Ervin. The 1850 census shows him 63 years old, born in N.C. (3) Isaac, the subject, was not married twice. The Isaac Mrs. Ervin wrote about, was probably married twice but not Isaac, the subject, The 1850 census shows that Easter, wife of Isaac Allen, was born in N.C. (4) Isaac and Easter Allen were buried in the old cemetery at Dixie, GA., graves unmarked. (5) The following corrected list of children, based on the old family Bible of Isaac Allen (but which did not show the date of his birth or parentage) is now given in lieu of the list in Vol. 2"
I left out the last part of this article as it only gives exact dates of events of the children.
Other parts of Mrs Erwins paper which were almost surely wrong included Mrs Erwin stating the father of Easter Harrell being Levi Harrell of Barnwell County, S.C. In Easter Allen's pension application based on the War of 1812 service of her husband Isaac Allen she stated they were married in Duplin Co, NC. She stated she was born in NC. She also stated that they left Duplin Co, NC in 1817 and arrived first in Bulloch Co, GA in that same year.
Editor B.T. Allen was also wrong on at least a couple of points in his articles on the Allen brothers of the early 1800's in south Georgia. The William Allen who Editor Allen claimed returned to North Carolina and became father of the William Allen who became governor of Ohio was wrong. The William Allen of NC who became Ohio governor was from Edenton, NC and his father was Nathaniel Allen.
Editor Allen was also wrong about Henry Allen returning to NC. Henry Allen was probably living with one of his brothers in the 1820 census of Irwin Co, GA. there were four brothers listed as heads of households and a total of 7 adult or teenage males listed in those households. Henry Allen is listed in the 1830 census of Thomas Co, GA and in the 1840 census of Jefferson Co, FL. This Henry Allen migrated to Henry Co, AL where he is enumerated in the 1850 and 1860 census of Henry Co, AL.
Further research shows the grandfather of Isaac Allen and his brothers to be Henry Allen SR of Duplin Co, NC. This Henry Allen left a will dated 1791 and probated 1795 showing among his sons a Henry Allen JR. Deed records of Duplin Co, NC show this Henry Allen JR selling land in Duplin Co NC and included in the deed book of Duplin Co, NC. In his last sale of land Henry Allen JR is listed as living in Bulloch Co, GA. The Henry Allen of 1830 Thomas Co, GA; 1840 Jefferson Co, FL and 1850 & 1860 Henry Co, AL is Henry Allen the Third.
