Thanks for the reply.Joseph Allen was born about 1780-1785 in unknown place.Thought to be Anson County, as other Allen in Marengo County came from Anson County.Joseph was married before 1808 when his first daughter Mary was born. She was born in Tennessee. Therefore, Joseph was in Tennessee several years prior to his move to Marengo County. His first three children were born in TN. Mary married William T. McGregor in Marengo Co. Alabama in 1828. By 1830 they were back in Tennessee and in Warren Co. William and Mary remained in Warren County until sometime after the 1850 census and before the 1860 census was made in Dade County Missouri.
Joseph's first wife was Rhoda. No known surname. It may have been Johnson as a son was named William Johnson Allen.Rhoda did sign a land deed with Joseph in Marengo County and died after 1831 and before 1835.
By will in Sumter County, Alabama Joseph names his children as the following.

Allen born 1812 Tennessee. 4.Amon Allen, born 1814 Tennessee. 5.Nancy Allen, born 1817 Tennessee. 6.Elizabeth Allen, born about 1819 Alabama 7.Martha Allen , born 1822 Alabama. 8.William Johnson Allen , born 1 December, 1825 Alabama 9.James D.
