“Dear Lydia and all,
I don’t believe I will ever have a chance to write you only in a hurry to deliver bad news. Our darling Mabel was taken about four o’clock yesterday with Membranous Cronk and it’s very doubtful about her being with us until midnight.I tell you it is a sad place. Yesterday I mailed pictures to each of you that were taken just ten days ago – not thinking this kind of news would follow and so soon.I don’t need to tell you that they, Orson & Elva, are a heart-broken family.Others feel they are too, but no one but them can fully realize.Mr. Whitnah has gone to Parson’s for help if possible but fear she will have left us before they return. There is no need of my writing more. You have it all. With love to all, your Sister Sue.I will write Warren for them too.”
