In a John Oliver Cooke letter dated 1855 to a grandson in TX, he refers to James Allen as an Uncle. Cooke married Joseph Allen (probally brother of James)and Mahalla Williams in early 1800's. John Oliver Cooke married a sister who was a Morgan from Moore County NC. Joseph Allen of Moore Ct NC did have land warrants in Maury Ct TN. The James Allen family of Maury Ct lived at the end of what is Dodson Road today off of James Gray Robinson Road in the Sawdust Williamsport, TN community. This is the Johnston Plantation and still owned by same family. Land is both Cooke and Johnson property. Johnson related by marriage too. I do think there is a connection to Orange county Allen...can not prove it yet. Joseph Allen was very involved in the community in Moore county and owned slaves. The orginal Allen graveyard is now visible since the timber has been cut. Morgans and Allens did migrate to Maury County. Cooke's are out of Greenville, SC area and are related by marriage.
