What a list I have on the Allens from Franklin County, Georgia . There must be ten families. They must be all kin because they came out of N.C. and Va and settled there for a while. I find William who seems to be the one who went there first. He There are at least three William Allens in three counties surrounding Franklin county. William of Elbert County, Ga. who was the brother to Beverly Allen who killed the U.S. Marshall in Augusta and fled to Logan County, KY and then there was William of Franklin County, who was from Lancaster County, S.C. and then in Jackson Co. there was William of Lancaster County, S.C. ---that makes four. Two had children named Beverly.Rubin Allen, John Allen , James Allen, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Young , Asa Allen and lots more. James Allen was Justice of Inf. Ct. July 30.1812 to Nov.3, 1813. In EARLY SETTLERS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY, GA , William and Robert are listed. James, I am sure, was kin to a lot of these Allens.
FOOT'S SKETCHES OF VIRGINIA gives a list of one William Allen's children. Also you might want to look at the History of Elbert County, Georgia. This list of Allens were from Cumberland County, Virginia. In one note that I have here---Heaven knows where I got the list it shows that William and three wives had the following children---not in order I am sure: His first wife was a Wray or a Eleanor Carter or a Beverly -2nd wife a Nancy Walthall and 3rd wife Sarah Keys; Children by the three--- TURNER, LUMES , MEREDEITH, PLEASENT , DARLING, WILLIAM, YOUNG, GRAY (PROBABLY "WILEY" WILLIAM GRAY ALLEN),DRUREY JOHN, LUCY, MARTHA, DOROTHY, AND RUBIN AND BEVERLY, ROBERT, SUSANNA, JOSEPH S., PHINES, NANCY, FRANCIS---I have not found an order or even if this is correct so do not hold me to it. The spelling is how I have found my notes on the list.
I have about 35 years of records of Allens but have not connected very many. Paul
