OGLETHORPE CO DEED BOOK "G" (Oglethorpe cut from original WILKES co): Oglethorpe County was created from Wilkes County on Dec. 19, 1793 by an act of the General Assembly. Georgia's 17th county was named for Georgia founder James Oglethorpe, who died in England in 1785.
This doc dated 1788, so this ALLEN was originally in WILKES CO GA then redistricted his land into newly formed OGLETHORPE CO GA by 1793.NOTE: Oglethorpe Co GA has the ONLY known exisiting 1800 census for the state of Georgia, which is NOT posted on Ancestry.com

Could this CHARLES ALLEN be connected to the JAMES ALLEN who left CHATHAM CO NC by 1783 for WILKES CO GA??
