Hi Chris, Were your ancestors Daniel Allen m Alathea Hale 1788, Washington Co., Tennessee?Do you believe that Moses, William, Sampson, Bethel, Charity, Nancy and Thomas,jr. were the siblings of Daniel?
My earliest Allen ancestor is Thomas Allen b. 1766 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. He married Margery Bryan, granddaughter of Morgan Bryan in 1789 in Rowan County. They were in Davidson Co., Tennessee by 1800.In 1819, Thomas Allen is said to have built the first cabin north of Apple Creek, in Greene Co. Ilinois.1819 is the year they arrived in Greene Co.Your mention of the name PRUITT got my attention because Pruitts were in Greene Co. at that same time.I grew up in a home built by William Pruitt in the late 1820's just a mile from the cabin built by Thomas Allen. They entered land on the same section.
--But I've strayed from my question-- After Thomas and Margery Allen died, three of their sons moved to Lawrence Co., Missouri. They were Thomas, Samuel, and Josiah(Joseph.)Josiah was the only one of the three who had children. They have names in common with the siblings of Daniel Allen m. Alathea Hale; if indeed, Daniel's above mentioned siblings are correct.
I believe they must have been related. Two of Josiah's children, William Marion Allen and John Luther Allen married grandchildren of Daniel Allen and Alathea Hale. William married Sophronia Davidson and later Mary Jane Davidson.John Luther married Sally Davidson about 1873.They were listed next to each other in the Erath Co., Texas census of 1870.John Davidson married Sarah Jane Allen daughter of Daniel and Alathea in 1809. They died in Lawrence Co., Missouri.Their son Joseph Peter had Sophronia, Mary Jane, and Sally.
I'm running long; however, there are more connections.
Have you discovered the father of Thomas Allen, Sr. of Rockingham Co., North Carolina? Some say he married a BETHEL.I believe it is interesting to note that Stephen BETHEL Strawn who lived near the Davidsons and Allens in Texas founded the town of Strawn, Texas and married an Allen from Lawrence Co., Missouri.
