Prince Edward Island has been made famous by the Anne of Green Gables books.
Aside note: My family:
Walter Jonathan Allen married Lydia Bernard b. PEI They married in Wisconsin and then moved to Corning, Adams County, Iowa Her sister is shown as living with them and born in PEI in the 1880 US Census....
Walter Jonathan Allen was born in VT and then in 1824 moved to WI. Lydia Bernard's father was Samuel Allen and her mother a "Vine". Some think they moved there from NY to PEI.
Prince Edward Island is searchable - use various web sites.
This shows the movement of peoples from Canada to the USA.
I would try to see if there is an Allen b. England about 1830 living in the 1880 US Census in Clinton County, Iowa or nearby - could possibly be father of James B. Allen.
The B. in James B. Allen - do you know what it stands for?
If the daughter is named Bernette or Burnett - that could be a name of a relative or a mother's maiden name, or a grandfather, etc...
B could stand for Burnett, Barlett, or other - but could be a clue, if James B. were named for someone in the family....even middle name of his father. Thus we see people from PEI coming to the USA and living in Iowa...sometimes after a stay in another state.
