I have information on Jesse's parents, Gilliam Allen (b. 1808 in North Carolina, died Oct 1856, Pulaski county, Georgia) and Delitha Allen (born ca. 23 in North Carolina and died 1870-1880 in Berrien ? county, Georgia.
Gilliam Allen (b. 1808 NC) was married at least once, maybe twice, in Laurens County, Georgia, before he married Delitha.Marriages are listed for Gilliam Allen and #1, Penelope Smith, 31 Dec 1827, Laurens County;#2, Gilliam Allen and Caroline Mullis, 4 Oct 1842, Laurens County, Georgia.
His marriage to Caroline Mullis of 4 Oct 1842 appears to some researchers to be the same person as his wife listed as "Delitha" and "Litha" and even in one tax record (1859 Pulaski County, Georgia, Lyman's district #348, listed as "Elytha" and coinsides with the birth of their daughter, Winnaford Allen, b. 2 Dec 1844 (according to her tombstone in Colquitt County, Georgia). As yet, we have no proof that Caroline Mullis and his wife, Delitha, are the same person. It is possible Caroline Mullis, whom he married in Oct of 1842 died and he married Delitha in March of 1844 and their first child, Winaford, was born in December of that year! These kinds of puzzles can drive you crazy!
Delitha Allen was given a Deed of Gift of Slaves, 4 Sep 1856, from Frances Allen of Jones County, Georgia. It is possible she was a daughter of this Frances Allen, or at least some close relationship was there.
From deed records of Laurens County, Gilliam is believed to be the son of Nazareth Allen of Laurens County, Georgia.
I have some documented facts on this family and will be glad to share what I have.Just let me know what you need answers to and I will most certainly share if I have it!
