ALLEN, JAMES OF HALL COUNTY, GEORGIA, WILL TYPESCRIPT, ABBEVILLE COUNTY (2 FRAMES) (MSS WILL: BOOK 2, PAGE 416; ESTATE PACKET: BOX 3, PKG. 56)
In the Name of God Amen - of the State of Georgia Hall County being of sound mind Memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same, but knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and testament in manner and form following (viz)
First.1 give to my beloved wife Sarah Allen the plantation whereon I now live it being lots No 65 & 77 in the 8 dist of Hall County for and during her Natural life - I also wish her to have three Negroes to wit.Colonel, Fillis, Silby during her life, and at her death to be equally divided between my three children (viz) Anna G. Allen, James J. Allen and Theresa Allen.
I also wish her to have my Sideboard and all my silver plate and Mahogany knife box and the knives and forks and all the Glassware also one large Bible and Trunk also two beds with their and furniture one set of hand irons one pair of Tongs and Shovel, also my Clock.The above articles I wish her to receive extra of the distributive share of my estate except the land & Negroes which is during her life_________
Secondly.I wish my daughter Anna G. Allen at the death of her Mother, to have lot of land No 65 in the 8 dest of Hall County also I wish her to have a Negro Girl Named Wilta.
Thirdly I wish my son James J Allen to have the two lots of land also my Sawmill and plantation on flat Creek __________.
Fourthly I wish my daughter Theresa to have at the death of her Mother to have Lot of land No. 77 in the 8 dest Hall County, also a Negro boy by the Name of Cornelius.
Fifthly I wish my son Robert H. Allen to have my Lot of Land in Cobb County state of Georgia; also all that he may be indebted to me at my decease_______
Sixly I wish my plantation and Mills and two Negroes to wit, Joseph and Hannah in Abbeville District South Carolina and all my personal property not otherwise disposed of in this will to be sold on a credit of twelve months.
Seventhly I wish the money rise from the sale of the above property and all the Money due me or which I may have on hands also all the money which may be coming to me from the Sale of my lands in the State of Indiana after my Just debts are paid to be equally divided between my Wife Sarah Allen and my three children (Viz) Anna Gray Allen, James John Allen, and Theresa Allen.
Eighthly I Nominate constitute and appoint my friend William E Wilson my lawful Executor to this my last will and testament to carry the Same into effect ______
