The Valley Chronicle, St. Charles, Ill., Aug 27, 1897:
E.R. Allen, of Aurora, who died this week at the advanced age of seventy-eight, was once a leading figure in the politics of the county and state, although he has been little heard of since war times. He served as mayor and postmaster of Aurora in the early days and was elected to a seat in the Illinois state senate in 1860. His brother, W.B. Allen, was for a long time collector of internal revenue for the is district. Mr. Allen's last appearance in Kane county politics was as chairman of the county judicial committee in 1891. --------- Not related, just posting items from an old newspaper.
