Debbie, This is exciting. These two Allen girls were Elizabeth Adeline Butterworth Waters, great nieces.Know that from John Waters will as he names them as great/grand nieces of his wife.
Is this an actual death certificate or something someone has written/copied?Mary's name was Mary Margaret Adeline Allen, her sister was Cyntha Emma Allen (she seems to have gone by her middle name the most.)
Mary never married, she was deaf and dumb. She lived her adult life with her sister "Emma" and brother in law Columbus Perkins Willmon.
The family did move to Union, Newton Co., MS about 1900, where bothColumbus Perkins Willmon & Cyntha Emma died. Cyntha died Jul 8, 1949.
If an actual death certificate, it seems whoever was giving the info. got a little confused on names.Which isn't that unusual. How many of our kids could tell their grandparents full name, maiden name, etc.?I know mine couldn't!
If this is an actual certificate this proves that Martha "Mattie" Butterworth was C. H. Allen's first wife, unless, she had the children out of wedlock, which I have no reason to believe that was the case.It seems she died sometime after Cyntha was born in Mar 8, 1873 & before Dec 27 1875, when C. H. remarried to Rachel Evelyn Lloyd (my gr grandmother.) They then had my grandmother Lula "Lou" Ellen Allen and Nancy Elizabeth C. "Lummie" Allen.
I still want to know if Sophronia Martin was any relation to Rufus Hansen "Rough" Martin who married Aunt Lummie? The way families married again and again into the lines makes me feel there was a relationship somewhere along the line.
Lewis Nelson Butterworth's son Columbus Franklin Butterworth married Vesta Parker, dtr of Robert Smith Parker and Cynthia "Evie" Evaline Allen (sister to C. H.)
