Ashley, I hate putting unproven information on these forums as some people grab it and run with it as fact.Having said that, and with you taking this as not completely proven, here goes.
William Hudson b. 1730 VA. married Susannah Allen.I have names of 6 children; Lucy, Allen, Isaac, Elizabeth, Winifred & Susannah Hudson.
John Hudson b. 1733 VA married Elizabeth Allen sister of Susannah Allen, I believe that John and William Hudson were also brothers, but no absolute proof.
I have six sons listed for John and Elizabeth; Drury, Isaac, John, Thomas, William and Jesse Hudson.
As you can see Hudsons go far back with the Allens, and I believe that's where Hudson Holley Allen's name came from. Not sure about the "Holley" name that could come from his mother's side of the family.
Hudson Holley (H.H.) Allen was born about 1802 in GA.As we know family moved with family, so it's a very good possibility that some of these Hudsons moved on with some of their Allen kin from SC to GA and later to AL.
I've always felt that these Allens in Benton/Calhoun County, Alabama were somehow related to Hiram Allen, but so far have not proven the connection, to most of them, a couple think it is proven they were related by the naming pattern if nothing else.If anyone else has proven they ain't saying.
They either came out of SC (where Hiram Allen was born) or they came over from GA, where Hiram Allen was living until he moved to Talladega, but his son, my g. grandfather lived in Calhoun Co. after his marriage to my gr. grandma. until his death in 1896.
