Does anyone have any information about George R. Allen, born GA, about 1808,married to Sarah M., living in Shelby County, AL, by 1850?
George was a carpenter/mechanic/cabinetmaker. He married in SC and had at least one son James there, then moved to AL by 1838 for the birth of daughter Margaret B. He moved to Montevallo by 1850 and died there in 1885. He sued the Montevallo Institute for a debt they owed him.
Other known children: Elizabeth, Samuel, Theodore, William.
He's in Montevallo in 1860, 1866, 1870, and 1880.
The reason that I am looking for George is that my brick wall, Britta Ann Green, and several people that I think are related to her (Nancy Ellen Green Garrett Adams and Mahala Green Davis) are always near or around him. Maybe his wife Sarah is their kin? Maybe his sister is the Nancy Greene in 1850 Shelby County that we think may be Britta's mom? Don't know yet.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated! Thank you.
