Melinda, I know you posted this message a long time ago, and I certainly hope that you are still active in your search for your Allen relatives.
This is the first possible link I've found on my Allen line in over 20 years.I recently found on an LDS site the family listing for John A. & Elizabeth Black Allen which includes Washington Allen. My gggrandfather, Washington Allen, was born in OH in 1824 according to my records, and married Mary McConkey Neer. This LDS site shows this same Washington, but with a birthdate of 1822 instead of 1824.Pretty close! Now, I am leary of LDS family trees because in my experience they rarely prove to be accurate when compared to actual records, but I do think they are good clues. As I said, this is the first clue of any kind that I've found since beginning my search almost 20 years ago, so I will certainly pursue it.
If this proves to be true, then your ancestor Samuel was my ancestor Washington's brother.Do you have any further information on Washington that could confirm our possible relationship?I'm happy to share what I have.
