Thanks for your reply.I did have half of this information already.
What I really would appreciate is more clarification as to the parents of Jospeh James Allen. I understand, JC, you are not related, so this is for any other family members also.
IN The 1880 Census of Precinct 4, Montague County, Texas. Both Joseph J. (shown as Jas. J. Allen) and Sarah J list there birthplaces as Tennessee. From a living Allen, grand daughter of Joseph J. and Sarah J. Allen, she thinks that this family came from Mississippi.
My concern is that Joseph James Allen was born abt 1851.The suggested parents of Henry and Polly Barnes Allen were married 1804.Polly would have been between 60 to 70 when she would have given birth to Jospeh James Allen.
Am I looking at the wrong Henry and Polly Barnes? The one I researched in census records has a James J. Allen who in 1880 census is still living at home, unmarried,in Maury County, Tennessee.
So I need one that works with our Joseph James Allen and Sarah Jane Davis who are married in Aug 4 1874 in Whitesboro, Grayson, Texas?Have children, Rosetta: May 1875, Henry Freelon Allen: July 17, 1877, Harvey D: Jan 10, 1880 , Minnie:April 1882, Omer: Feb 6 1885; Robert Oscar, Feb 6 1885 (yes twins) and Dollie: Nov 1887. All born in Texas.
Does someone have a Bible or other record that would shed more light on this? That would be a great contribution to this research for all.
I have been researching, bringing all their children forward and trying to contact some to see if descendants from Joseph and Sarah Allen have anything else to add.
If anyone is related, please let me know.I attend Allen reunions in Oklahoma, one is coming up this June.
