Kevin, Allow me to join in your confusion.I have been wrestling with these issues for a few months now. What I can tell you is, yes, Elizabeth Cora Allen is a daughter of George Whitefield Allen and Lydia Wheelock of Greensboro, Vt.The 1860 Census has Wyman, Parden, Elizabeth and Nancy on it.But no George.Coincidentally there is a George Allen on the Lorain, OH census in 1860. Tim French and I have been extensively looking at this and I have come to the conclusion that the George in Ohio is not the same as the George in Vt. My original records say George in Vt. died in the mid 1850's.So we do not know where the George in Ohio came from. I also know that the name George Whitefield Allen is very common and exists in many census' around the country at that time. Our George W. Allen is a son of Reuben and Pearly, and I am a decendent of his son Wyman. So I am very interested in how and where the family dispersed. My end stayed in Vt for 5 more generations, and many are still in the upstate of Vt. Any information that you have post Elizabeth would be very appreciated.
