Oh my - what a horrible thing to happen to Yvonne. Such a time of uncertainties. Seeing how some of our ancestors toughed it out has helped me with a new perspective - but of course that doesn't put food on the table.I do hope she will find something else she will like.
The new Allen information will not impact the Anderson Allen and Sarah Tilley marriage and their descendants thankfully- there are quite a few mentions of our couple in records and such. Early on in my research, a very kind woman living near the Bassett Historical Society Museum in Henry or Patrick Co VA (memory failing)- she actually went to the museum and wrote from a glass enclosed cabinet what she could from an old document regarding Anderson Allen- it mentioned this children's names, including the dau's married names.
Folks have been so generous over the years, otherwise I may never have been sure. While on the subject of the ALLENS, I must finish telling you the possbile problems with the ancestry of Anderson Allen.I know you all are very busy and I don't expect you to find your papers. Only need to tell you - I saw the orignal revision information on the Allens.I believe Melba Goff Allen used it to draw her conclusions - but when I read it - I find a possible error - so while I can say with certainty that the name Coleman Allen did not appear in the last will of Young Allen who married Martha Coleman, it appears to me that the William ALLEN whose last will DOES include a son named Coleman Allen, is a different William Allen that Melba interpreted the book revision to said. Furthermore I am not 100% convinced that our Anderson Allen is Coleman Anderson Allen as he is only mentioned once in records as C.A. Allen and in the document is referred to as Anderson N Allen -- there are several Coleman ALLENs and one Anderson N Allen that I know of.
I am trying to reach Melba but I am not sure she is still with us.Norma Carter Miller in a revision of"Allens of the Southern States" shows us the William who had a son Coleman Allen, to be the William who was born in MD - son of Thomas - NOT the one that Melba named who is Wm Allen born in New Kent Co VA and was a son to Robert Allen and Anne Reynolds.Just had to let you know where the research is stalled for now. Please take care- both of you and feel free to email me directly when you do get back into genealogy ---cousin Debbie Wood
