Hello,I am a descendent of Drury Allen and Joannah Coleman.Per our family Allen book that was written in 1994, David Allen's will was dated March 28, 1827 and probated in 1828, Person Co, NC.
He bequeathed to Catherine 1000 acres and at her death, son William Allen would get the land. To his sons Thomas and Drury, he gave his "Mayo Tract' containing 940 acres, to be divided between them.To his daughter Elizabeth Lawson, he bequeathed his 'Coleman tract', containing 460 acres.Catherine was to support their daughter Patsy. His children were instructed, at the death of their mother, to support their 'unfortunate sister, Patsy'.
David and Catherine are buried on the Brick House Plantation.Their grave markers are still there (1994) in a field near the Allenville Road, about 3 miles east of Roxboro. The brick house is no longer there. The chimney of the present house, near the graves, was constructed of bricks from the plantation house.
