We are getting someone to actually go to the archives and get copies of at least 2 Wills next week - here is his request:
.......I have a request I hope will not be too far a reach.I am a descendant of one Joseph Allen, b. NC aft. 1755 and d. Moore Co., NC 1829.Research suggests he and allied families came to Moore Co. from Wake Co., NC.When I search Wake Co. records I findthat he may be the Joseph Allen named as one of the sons of Drury Allen in his Feb., 1775 will that is posted on usgwarchives.net.I understand there is another Wake Co. will of similar date for a Young Allen.
I have a copy of a Young Allen will dated Feb. 1775, Wake Co., NCthat appeared in a 1979 Anson Co., NC genealogy. It is very similar in content to the 1775 Wake Co. usgwarchives Drury Allen will, differing only in that it is the will of Young Allen and that Joseph Allen is not shown as one of the named sons. What I would like for you to do is check the Wake Co. wills for these two men and let me know which one is the genuine article. The Young Allen will appears in your index; the Drury Allen will was posted as an abstract by Carolyn Shank at:http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/wake/wills/allen58wl.txthttp://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/wake/wills/allen58wl.txt .
I hope you can see my dilemma and can suggest a course to take to figure out what's really going on here. Jerry Allen
