Cheryl, Thanks very much for your reply. I believe in this 1860 Scott County, Arkansas Census that B. A. Allen was Beverly A. Allen and his wife was Mary J. Logan:
Saline Co., Arkansas ALLEN, Beverly & Polly LOGAN married on Nov. 20, 1836 by A. R. Crisp, JP----p. 3
My 4th great grandmother was Rebecca, wife of Arthur Oller. I believe she was an Allen and the daughter of Carr Allen and Diannah Oller. Rebecca's parents are based solely on speculation and I have no proof for my theory.
I further believe Rebecca Allen Oller was the sister of: James, Mary Ann, Hannah, and Beverly, with brother Beverly the husband of Mary "Polly" J. Logan.
Sister Mary Ann Allen married Jess Oller, cousin of Arthur.
I have copies of letters written by my grandmother's Aunt Vida Jones Woodruff, who stated:
"Aunt Millie, my grandma, used to talk all the time about the old Rev War so I know some of her folks were in it? An Oller and Allen had to marry brothers and sisters for Aunt Millie and Carr Allen were double cousins. Look at his grave stone at Parks, Belves Allen (my note: Beverly Allen?), Aunt Millie Uncle, was killed by Bush Whackers. My mother was 6 years old and seen it was in the Civil War? I can't read my own writing and I think of something else new every day." Vida
Note: this refers to Mary Elizabeth Griffith Jones, wife of Levi "Lee" Benton Jones, my grandma's grandparents.Mary was born in 1860 so his death would have been in 1866 if Vida was correct.
I don't think Aunt Vida was correct about the double first cousins, but Millie Ann Oller and Carr Allen would have been cousins because Millie's mother was Rebecca Allen Oller and Carr Allen's father was Beverly Allen. Beverly and Rebecca were siblings.
I would be interested in knowing more about the Allen and Ollers of Grayson, Kentucky.
