Hey. I have Nelson's will and I also have Nelson's guardianship papers. I am just stuck now trying to find out about his parents.Okay so your gggrandfather was John Everett Allen who had a son named Will and then Will had John Frank - is that correct? If you have any older family members still alive, they may remember my grandparents - Hugh and Lucille Allen that lived in Bartlett on Stage Road next to the Bartlett United Methodist Church.I have no information on John Everett and would appreciate his wife's name, children, etc.
Also, I have not been able to locate Nelson's grave.I assumed he was buried with the other Allens in the old Ellendale Cemetary but he is not there. I have searched the Shelby County archives and I found a receipt for his casket but cannot make out where it was shipped to and if it has the name of the cemetary.
Since the cenus records burned for 1890 I have not been able to locate Amanda Allen (Nelson's wife) I am fairly certain she remarried but cannot find anything more on her.
Nelson's son Hugh Henry was my great-grandfather.Hugh H. married Effie Eugenia Mayo and they had one son, Hugh Jr. who was my grandfather. He married Lucille Hall and they had one daughter, my mom, Charlotte.
Do you need information on Nelson's daughter Sarah? If so let me know and I will pass it along.
I have Nelson's divorce papers from his first wife (Mary Owen). I will be more than happy to share information with you.My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Email me and I will forward you a copy of the divorce papers.
I am sorry to ramble on and on but it is nice to find someone that is working on the Allen family.I am an only child and my husband and I don't have children so really there is no one else who is interested in the family tree.
Again, please email me and I will be happy to pass information along to you. I hope to be able to return to the Williamson Co. archives within the next couple of months and I am going to see if I can determine what happened to Nelson's parents.
