I'm looking for anyone with any kind of information about these brothers Solomon and Samuel Allen in Rockingham Co. NC. I have them living with their mother Sarah ? Allen and Daniel Allen Sr., their older 1/2 brother, after their father dies in 1770. But we have no documentation for this living accommendation.
The 1790 census gives a little insight. Daniel Allen Sr. has a family but no males in the age group that Solomon and Samuel would be in (they would be in their 20's)BUT, living next door to Daniel Sr. Is Joseph Allen Jr. Who has three white males over 16 and one white female in the family. I believe two of these males are Solomon and Samuel, because Solomon in 1789 witnesses a deed between Daniel Allen Sr. and Nathaniel Williams. Then in 1791 Solomon purchase 200 ac from Edward Scott and Samuel Allen is a witness. Then seven months later Samuel Allen purchase 100ac of Solomon's land, these actions are all within the family.
On the 1800 Rockingham Co. Census we find:
Solomon Allen/? and children b.1791-1799 Samuel Allen/Rebecca ? Children b.1791-1799 Joseph Allen/? children b.1791-1799.
The Valentine Allen group have a Samuel Allen in Rockingham Co. also, but due to his younger age he isn't this Samuel Allen.
In 1801 Samuel Allen and Rebecca ? sale their 100ac. to Joseph Allen Jr.witness by Solomon and Daniel Allen Sr. This is the last record I have of Samuel and Rebecca's family.
Solomon Allen last record found is the 1820 census, he had seven children but I only know of one name and that is his first son Samuel.
