Col. John Allen b. Dublin 13 Feb 1661, served in King William's army and regained possession of the Stillorgan (south Dublin, Ireland) estate which had been confiscated by King James.
He purchased lands at Bullock and at Dalkey (in the early 1800s my ancestors leased from Allen family the house attached to Bullock Castle).
Col. John Allen m. 1684 Mary Fitzgerald (d.1692), sister of 19th Earl of Kildare, Ireland.On 9 Oct 1714 Col. Allen was made a Privy Councillor and on 28 Aug 1717 made "Baron Allen of Stillorgan and Visc. Allen of Kildare".He died in London 8 Nov 1726 and buried St. James's Church, Dublin, Ireland. They had sons, Joshua, Robert and Richard Allen.
