Julie....have you found more on the "saga" of William Brown and his wife Elizabeth and/or Mary? The various records make it seem almost certain that William Brown was married at least twice, with one of those two wives obviously NOT being the mother of the Mary Brown who married James Landrum.Even if all that is correct, however, it still seems like the names "Elizabeth" and "Mary" were used "interchangeably" within a very short period of time (i.e., within a period of time, during which William Brown would obviously have been married to only one woman....unless one wife died, and William then remarried within a VERY, VERY short period of time).
Irrespective of the above, have you learned anything new about the son named William Brown "Junior?"I have learned that James Landrum and Mary Brown (a sister of William Brown "Junior") had a descendant (maybe a grandson, but I would have to check that again) who was named Reuben Landrum.Reuben Landrum (APPARENTLY the SAME Reuben Landrum....but I have not actually proven that yet) fathered a daughter of his own who was named Sarah Landrum. That Sarah Landrum married a man who was named David Arnett (supposedly born 1750s in Louisa Co., VA), and that David Arnett (a son of a James Arnett and a grandson of an older/"first" David Arnett) was a brother of a woman who was named Henrietta Arnett....and Henrietta Arnett married a *Charles Brown*.
Note: There is a later "connection" between a daughter of the above Charles and Henrietta (Arnett) Brown, who was named Mary "Polly" Brown, and the Brown family that "traces back" to the Berryman Brown and his brother Merriday Brown who were in Essex Co., VA in the 1700s.It is not known at this time if that Brown family was or was not related to the above William Brown family.A male Brown descendant of Berryman Brown has apparently just agreed to take the DNAtest, so it will be interesting to see if his DNA is a match to any of the other/existing male Brown DNA donors who "trace back" to Essex Co., VA.
Note: While the above-mentioned Berryman Brown and his brother Merriday Brown may or may not have been "Brown Y chromosome related" to the family of Francis Brown "I" (died 1691/1692 in Essex Co., VA), Berryman Brown had an apparent son named Scott Brown, and Scott Brown married a Lucy Munday.Lucy Munday was a descendant of Thomas Munday and Sarah Brown....and Sarah Brown was a daughter of Francis Brown "I."So....these two families were at least "connected by marriage" eventually. Some have suspected that the William Brown who was the father of Mrs. Mary (Brown) Landrum was a BROTHER of Francis Brown "I"....and while that cetainly COULD be true, there is apparently not one shred of "decent evidence" to prove or disprove that connection at this point in time (and there is currently no male Brown DNA donor who claims to "trace back" to William Brown "Junior"....assuming that "Junior" even had any male children).
While just about anything is possible here, the above "Landrum/Brown/Arnett connections" make me wonder if the referenced Charles Brown was perhaps out of Mrs. Mary (Brown) Landrum's father William Brown (via the above William Brown, Junior....since William "Junior" was apparently the only son who could have possibly continued this "Brown line").
Please let me know if you have found ANY information on William Brown, Junior. Thanks so much!
