Hi Jean,
Interesting stuff.I did make the Kellogg connection and for the time being I'm going with it.The Blake though, that's as sketchy as Obadiah Allen.Henry B. Allen was clearly an Allen and I have his birth year as 1835, so Ruby Blake must have been an Allen in 1835 and married a Blake sometime after that.I agree with you that Ruby is a rare name among the Allens, it never resurfaces, at least not in my line.Other possibilities I'm considering is that Henry may have been illegitimate and raised in the home of Obadiah Allen who died in 1827.The thing that makes me think that is that Obadiah had a son named Henry James Allen. From what I can see for both Henry's their middle names are important to them, probably as a way to identify themselves from each other.
I will run down the Abjibah Blake angle and see where it goes.Thank you for that.
I'm thinking of taking some time and heading to Ferrisburgh and see what I can find there.
Cheers
-Bob
