Thanks for responding.I too cannot find any evidence that my line goes back to Ethan Allen or his brothers. At least not as a relative, it is possible that this line of Allens may have participated in the Green Mountain boys at some point or another as the GMBs were vigilante's before they were heroes and Ferrisburg is in the proper county.
Can you help me work a mystery? My great-great-great grandfather Henry B. Allen, lists his father as Obadiah Allen and his mother as Ruby Blake.I've found a Ruby Kellogg who could have become Ruby Blake but I'm having difficulty with Obadiah Allen.Obadiah Allen and Hannah Gage had a son named Obadiah who died in 1827.That Obadiah married Esther Currier and had a son Obadiah in 1820.Clearly my great-great-great grandfather Henry could not have been a son of Obadiah and Esther as he was born in 1835, but if he was the son of Obadiah and Esther's son Obadiah, that would have meant that Obadiah was 15 when Henry was born.It also makes Ruby Blake 15 years Obadiah's sr.
While this is all possible it certainly would have been scandalous.I also can't tell if Ruby was ever married to Obadiah.Did they have an affair?Did they divorce?
Have you found anything in your searches that can help explain this?
On a different note, my uncle has held tightly to the Ethan Allen connection despite the fact that it's likely fiction.Instead, I have been able to prove that we're descended from 2 Mayflower passengers, to the point that I've been admitted as a registered Mayflower Descendant. It's funny how a fictional story is persistant despite a more interesting truth being lost.I only discovered the Mayflower connection last March.
