In FamilyTreeMaker Online while searching for Larkin Allen, I found someone had posted info about a William Allen, b. abt 1751, d. 1849, who married Sarah Slaughter and had many children and among them was an Archibald P. Allen which seemed to be the person you were asking about and also another son named Larkin Allen, b. abt 1814.I saw that this William and Larkin seemed to be in the 1840 Wilson Co, TN census and I am interested in this Allen family since they used the Larkin name.
My 3rd-ggf was Larkin Alexander Allen who was born in 1817 in Rutherford Co, NC and died in 1864 in Carroll Co, GA.His father was William G. Allen, b. 1788 in NC and died in 1871 in Shelby, Cleveland Co, NC.I believe that Wm G.'s father was a Larkin Allen, b. ca 1765 who was also in Rutherford Co and then Cleveland Co, NC and died ca 1857.I have done the Y-DNA test with FamilyTreeDNA and my line of Allens seem to come from Allens that were in VA around 1700.
Do you know of any male in your Allen line that has taken the Y-DNA test?I have either been in contact with or at least know the lineages of most of my Y-DNA matches so if one of the males in your line has taken the test already then your line is probably not related to mine.I am trying to research all these Larkin Allen's that I can find to see if they are all related or not.
There was a Hezekiah Allen that shows up near my Larkin Allen (1765) in 1800 York Co, SC and then in 1810 there is a Hezekiah Allen in Smith Co, TN and I don't know that it is the same Hezekiah but it was interesting that another Larkin Allen ended up in the nearby county of Wilson in 1840 and probably before that.
I'd be glad to share any information that I have with you.
