This family is part of my family tree.Stephen Henry Allen, b 1867, the son of Joseph b. 1830, was my grandmother's father.I have only the online census returns to go by so have only gone back as far as James b.1789 and Jane b.1791. However, as their first son was named Francis it could well be that he was named for James' father.I have the following information in my records which are from the Family Research organisation - Latter Day Saints - databank:
James was baptised November 1st 1789 at Newburn. His parents are given as Francis Allen and Elizabeth.
Children of these parents baptised at Newburn were: Elizabeth Allen, Jan 1st 1783 James Allen, September 16th 1787 James Allen, (as above) November 1st 1789 Isabella Allen, September 2nd 1792.
I have not been able to personally verify this information.
Incidentally, for the record, Stephen Henry Allen d.1889, the same year as he married and my grandmother (another Elizabeth) was born. His widow went on to marry Ralph Hann, a nephew of the Elizabeth Hann who married James Allen. If I have my facts right. I hope this is of some help.
