Hello Jim, I am researching George Butler (my great grandfather) whose second wife was Sarah E. 'Sally' Allen born March 1870 MS to William Allen born January 1844 SC and Mattie ? born May 1850 MS. Sarah/Sally was the widow of an unknown Whitaker. She had 4 surviving Whiteaker children, Letha 1887, James W., Albert, and Fred 1898.Fred later died. She had one surviving Butler child, Orin ca 1906. Sarah/Sally had two known siblings, James and Ella. The Allens are living near the Butlers in the 1900 census for Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory.Sarah, a widow is with them. The Butlers also were from MS having come to IT in 1892 or 1895. They were all living in what is now Red Oak, Latimer County, OK. Can we help each other? BTW, Red Oak is not far from the Canadian River (River Choctaw??) The Poteau River and Arkansas River are also in/adjoining Choctaw land. These are fairly large (wide) rivers. The rest of Choctaw land is mountain and prairie.
