Miles lived in Trumball Co. Ohio before buying land August 20, 1838 in Fairfield Twp., DeKalb Co., IN.He was one of the first settlers and helped form Fairfield Twp. in 1844.Now the hard part, I cannot read the 1840 Census for this twp., and in 1850 there is a Samuel born in NY married to a Mary J. (Reeyse)Allen that has 5 children. But he is only 26, which would have made him too young to have signed the land deed.I also found in the death Census for 1850 that Miles died between 1849-1850. BUT there are grave markers in the graveyard at Fairfield that had children of M and M J Allen that died in infancy in the same time period.AND I had alway been told that Miles was the father of my greatgrandmother and the Miles name has been passed down through many generations. But the census has Samuel and Mary J. living together with my greatgrandmother and her siblings. Now, could Samuel have been a brother living with them and therefore the head of the household?Or did she marry her brother-in-law and then he died within 9 years? Because she had remarried in the 1860 Census to Adam Shatto and has her children with her.UNSOLVED MYSTERIES..Can you help? Also close by was a Chancy Allen born in Ct, with his wife Lavina born in Canada. They had children Wealthy? born in Mich., and Laura, Lorana, and William born in IN.This was in the 1850 DEKALB, IN Census.
