Va Patent Letter, Pat 23 pg. 626, 627 Anderson Latham Papers., Henry Beard bought 370 acres from George II of Great Britain, France & Ireland for the Colony and Dominion of Virginia, for 40 shillings, on the branches of Willis's River alias Willis Creek, on the upper side of said river beginning at a white oak, corner to Henry Carey Gentl. and running thence on (Cary's) line, Signed by William Gooch Esquire our Leutenant Governor & Commander in Chief of our said colony and dominion of Williamsburg.11/25/1743.
