Page 97 Lucinda Guthrie, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Flinn) Guthrie was born 10 August 1814, at or near Leesville in Lawrence County.She was married in Law. Co., to Aram Allen, son of Robert and Hannah Allen.(Licensed 13 Mar 1835, Bk. "A", p. 533).Aram was the brother of Micajah Allen who married Lucinda's sister, Sarah (Sally) Guthrie.On 16 Dec. 1831, a license was isued to to Aram Allen and Betsy Ann Smith, but it is not known if this were the same Aram as the above.
Aram and Lucinda lived north of the present village of Buddha (Flinn's Cross Roads) at what was known in later years as the Flethcher Hubbard farm.Aram died there and was buried Carlton Cemetery west of Buddha.Lucinda and her unmarried daughter, Sally, lived on at the old home place where Lucinda died 3 July 1902.She also is buried at Carlton.Aram died 18 January 1863.
Lucinda's Will was made 5 May 1902 and proved 12 July 1902.(Law. Co. Will Bk. "C", p. 86).She left all personal and real estate to the daughter Sally.Real estate was described as:NW corner of NW 1/4 of Sec. 10, T4N, R2E, 22 acres SW1/4 of the SW1/4 of Sec. 3, T4N, R2E, 40 acres NW part of the NW1/4 of Sec. 3 T4N, R2E, 33.80 acres.
Executors were James A. Sallee, Austin Bond, and John L. Sallee, all of Buddha.The same signed as Wittnesses.At the auction of some of Lucinda's effects, Arthur M. Guthrie bought her spinning wheel for 25¢, and shortly before his death he gave it to his niece Bernice Martin, the compiler of this genealogy.
