I have for a number of years tried to trace my Allen family past my great-great-grandfather, Francis Asbury Allen.Past him all I knew was that an ancestor of his was named Charles Allen, who was a Revolutionary War soldier wounded at the Battle of Charleston, SC, and he reportedly lived to be 107 years old.
Through several other Allen Family researchers on the Internet, I believe I have found Charles.Someone on the Internet who would do free lookups in theDAR Patriot Index found a Charles who was about 90 when he died, and he was the oldest listed, according to the researcher. His bio states where he lived, died and served. The info is:Charles Jr:b 3-8-1758 VA d 1848 TN m Patty Jenkins Pvt NC.
Other information I have found about this Charles Allen is he excuted his pension 3 September, 1832, from Williamson Co. TN. He states he was born 1758 In Culpepper Co. VA and resided in Warren Co. North Carolina where he enlisted.
A Charles Allen, Sen, and a Charles Allen both appear in the 1790 Warren County, NC, Census, and a Charles Allen appears in the 1800 Oglethorpe County, GA, Census. My great-great-grandfather, Francis Asbury Allen, was born in Georgia in 1804.
If anyone can connect Charles Allen, Sr., mentioned in a number of earlier postings, with the Charles, Jr., I have found and then on to Francis Asubury Allen (or any other information), I would be most grateful.
