This Samuel of mine (ours?) is a mysterious fellow. We know he died in Windsor, Connecticut Apr 24, 1648 and was buried Apr 28, 1648. His wife was Ann____? She remarried a William Hurlburt and relocated to Northampton, Massachusetts.Samuel's and Ann's children were: Samuel, Nehemiah, John, Rebecca, Mary Obadiah and Child. Samuel had a brother Deacon Thomas Allen (often he spelled his name Allyn). It is believed Samuel may have been born closer to 1608 rather than 1588 as his wife outlived him by 39 years. We know of no other marriages for Samuel. He came over on the Mary and John in 1630 permy book written be Orrin Peer Allen "The Allen Memorial, Descendants of Samuel Allen of Windsor, Ct., 1640-1907". The book lists his descendants to 1907 and has a brief forward which expains the mystery to Samuel's English roots. No one can say positively at this time who Samuel was the son of or exactly where he was from. Many of us as the book notes have tried and are trying to no avail. I think one day someone will...maybe me if I can squeeze in the time. You'll notice others have written also...we are are searching for the true past of this Samuel. I do not think your Samuel and my Samuel are the same one, but it is possible that they are connected further back in England some how. Does this help you, and can I be of more help?
