There is a Benjamin Allen on the 1790 census for Winthrop, ME. He is in very close proximity to Phillip Allen and the census is not in alphabetical order. This may mean that they lived close to each other. The census only categorizes someone as over 16 or under, so you can't tell what the person's age is. Benjamin and Phillip are also listed in an old book which was written in the 1800s by David Thurston, "The History of Winthrop." The entry for Benjamin is: "Benjamin Allen, married Sally Jennings. Children. Josiah, born August 6, 1788, died January 2, 1794. John Adams, born August 2, 1790, died August 19, 1790. David Larned, born August 23, 1791, died September 22, 1792. Sally, born September 14, 1793, married Cyrus Smith. Cordelia, born October 31, 1795." I don't think the marriage took place in Winthrop because there isn't a date of marriage. It's shown the same way for Phillip ("Phillip Allen married Esther Tisdale"). Benjamin is shown in the town records to have been constable for 1793, 1794, & 1795. Phillip was a selectman for 1787, 1788, 1792, and 1794. They may have lived in the area that was incorporated into the town of Readfield. I'm not sure if this is the Benjamin of Attleboro, but maybe this will give some leads to follow.
