Allinson or Allison???
Hello!I am wondering if and where my ancestors might have used the last name of 'Allison'.You see, the only ancestors I can track used the last name Allinson, with an 'n' in it.My great-great grandfather was William S. Allinson, who lived in Jo Davies County Illinois and LaFayette County Wisconsin with his father Thomas Allinson (1809 - 1858) and Jane Cousin Allinson (1820 - 1897).The family came from Cornwall England about 1826 but I cannot find paperwork.Mary, 5 yrs old, and Isabella, 3 yrs old, also made this trip with William and his parents.
I know that Thomas's father was Francis Allinson, born about 1788 in England.I don't have the name of a wife.I also know that Jane Cousin's father was John Cousin (1778 - ) and her mother was Elizabeth (1775-1862).I also know that Elizabeth was on the US 1850 census (72 yrs old) living with Thomas and her daughter Jane.I don't have information on when she came or if she came with her husband, or if he was deceased when she came.
As you can see, I have precious little to go on.I have requested a copy of Thomas Allinson's last will and testament from LaFayette County Wisconsin but they have yet to respond back to me.I know he had a will because of a newspaper article I found about his death that named two executors, William Allinson (his son and my direct line) and James Harker (Mary's husband). This article was dated 5 June 1860.
If anyone can help me connect with the Allison line, or maybe more Allinsons, I would be ever so grateful!Any information is appreciated! Thanks!
