Some of you have seen my previous post where I am trying to determine the parents and siblings of my George M ALSOBROOK.Over the past few months, a wonderfull little group I am a member of and I, have been passing out ideas, leads, hints and other info in the hopes of helping me knock down this brick wall.
Here is some of the new info I have collected. Now remember, some of what I have found is my assumptions and is only speculation on my part. There is still no proof to all of what I have found but I need the help of the larger group and the hopefully knowledge that you may have in your notes.
Please continue to follow me through my presentation.
A John ALSOBROOK was found in 1820 and 1830 Lincoln Co, TN.In 1840 he was gone and may have moved on to 1840 Shelby Co, TN.The ages of the people in his house holds seemed to match.
One of our small group came across a manuscript written by a JC PORTER.His mother's name was Dorothy ALSOBROOK born abt 1811 in TN.His father was from Lincoln Co, TN.His mother and father married prior to 1836.He was Benjamin Franklin PORTOR.In this manuscript there was mention a Uncle George ALSOBROOK who lived with them in 1853 and a mention that JC was named after his grandfather John ALSOBROOK.
After he married, my George lived in Upshur Co, TX next door to BF and Dorothy in 1860.
I found a George ALSOBROOK living with a Louisa PORTER and her husband James PORTER in Jackson Par, LA in 1850.There was a Louisa ALSOBROOK married to a James J. PORTER in Shelby Co, TN in 1840.Louisa is also living in Davis (CASS)Co, TX near George M ALSOBROOK in the 1870.
George M ALSOBROOK moved to Cass Co, TX prior to 1860 and lived there until his death after the turn of the century. He was married to a Mary MITCHELL.
Joseph M. ALSOBROOK of Lamar/Red River Co, TX may have been a sibling of George also. There has been mentioned that there was a letter written some time ago mentioning that Joseph had a brother George living in Linden, Cass Co, TX.Joseph also married his third wife NC WINN in Cass Co, TX in 1878.Also there was a Joseph ALSOBROOK enumerated in the 1850 Shelby Co, TN census living with another family and he was abt 22 and a clerk.
The above people I truly beleive are brother and sisters. No proof for certain.
While the John mentioned above was living in Lincoln Co, TN in 1820, there was another John who migrated to Stewart Co, Tn in 1830 and a Wesley who ended up in MS.These too may be brothers of and sons of the Shelby Co John.
The 1850 census of Shelby CO, does not have a John. There is an Esther with a son Lawrence who was classified as an idiot. Not a nice way to put it but that is in the census report. She was 61 born in NC and could have been the wife of John.
There in Shelby Co at the time was also a Nathaniel Thomas ALSOBROOK.Could he be a sibling of my George also.
I apoligize for this being so long.I hope that someone other than my small family of other ALSOBROOK researchers, will see this and it set them to wondering, thinking, and helping me solve this mystery.
Email me at JLowery000@aol.com.I will share anything I have with you with no strings. All I ask is a little help.
I am so close to solving this that it makes my goosebumps grow thinking that it could happen any minute.Remember though, this info is ONLY MY ASSUMPTIONS and has not been proven. As I tell my other cousins, my gut tells me it is fact, and it is sometimes wrong but not always.Help me solve this mystery. If you have any info on the above ALSOBROOKS, their parents, siblings please let me know.
Thanks for being so patienct with me and good luck and good hunting in your researches.
