Hello Gwen and Forum, What is the earliest record of AMEND family in Partenstein? Is see there is a cluster of Amend Families in the area. Some in Arnstein Some from Wildnesee and Wildnestein. Mine are just south of THe River Main near Wertheim. All in Franconia!
And others, surely these families are linked. I am also aware that "some" of the Family from Partenstein migrated to Hungary in the 1700's. Have you Found History books? //www.partenstein.de/
Who were they administered by? The Catholic Church?
Partenstein is a village with 2900 inhabitants.
The Name Amend ist very popular an old. The first Amend, I know from, was born in june 1648 an died on oktober th 6 th in 1738. If you check the telefonbook of Partenstein you can find 71 telefon terminations with the name Amend.
"Conrad Am End. His name was written seperated then. He was town Mayor. He was married to Cathrin Im Hof They have had three children. He was protestant.
There are protestant as well as catholic Amends in Partenstein. The majority ist protestant. The catholic church in Partenstein is called "St. Johannes der Täufer" (to be translatet as: "St. John the baptist")
Where are the protestant Archives? I am sure the Catholic records would be older if in fact the survived the thirty year war.
What happened to Peter AMEND. I would like to know where he (His Father) found records dating back to the 1200's for Amend? I don't think it was in Partenstein? But sure would be interesting if it was.
