hello Paul, She's probably right. The Huguenot, or French Protestant, members of the Calvinistic or reformed communion of France fled their country to escape persecution in the late 17 century. They came to protestant countries such as Great Britain and America.
The Amer/Amor, etc was probably abbreviated from the French word Amour (love).
I haven't left Wiltshire in England yet. How many more Amer families settled in other countries and probably many more from Britain to America, etc. She has to find out from what country that she is in know and work from there. As I say, I haven't left England or Wales yet. Keep posting if you have details. Wer'e all here to help each other.
