I'm trying to track down information on a Thomas Anderson and his family, living in or around Greene County Alabama in the 1800's.
I've found a Thomas J. Anderson in the 1850 Census, living in Greene County with his wife (Anastasia) and two children (James W, and Mary V, ages 2 and 1). Thomas is listed as a physician, aged 31 (born about 1819 in AL) and Anastasia is 27.
Greene County marriage records have a Thomas J Anderson marrying Anastasia Romani Wilson on April 12 1847, and also Thomas J Anderson marrying Martha D Hall on June 13, 1857. I'm guessing that Anastasia died young and that Thomas remarried. Don't know if its true.
I've also found a Thomas I. Anderson in the 1880 census, also born in 1819. The census is for New Prospect, Hale County Alabama. He's widowed at this point and living with his son Walter (23) and daughter Florence R (19).
I found a little history online indicating that Florence Anderson, daughter of Thomas I., married Greene Williams Dugger. They're my wife's great-grandparents.
Since its easy enough to confuse a J for an I, especially with old-fashioned script, I'm assuming Thomas J and Thomas I are the same person (both born 1819 in Alabama). That would make Martha Hall Florence's mother. Don't know that its true, would be nice to confirm.
I'm also wondering if Thomas is the son of the Thomas (1773-1827)and Jane Kennedy (1788-1859) Anderson who moved to this area from South Carolina in 1818. Haven't been able to connect them.
Does anyone out there have any information on this family? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
