Just one of those stray references that might help someone ...
John Rylands University Library of Manchester Methodist Ministers and Probationers who have Died in the Work ... showing when they commenced their Ministry and the year of their death based on Hills Arrangement, 1969 edition. (P- Primitive)
The index was scanned from the list of ‘Ministers and Probationers who have died in the work’ that is in the back of the 1969 edition of Ministers and Probationers of the Methodist Church, printed by the Methodist Publishing House in London.
This list is invaluable for finding when someone entered the British ministry and when they died. It includes missionaries as well as those in the home work. It is important to note that ministers who left the ministry before death are not included. These will however be found in the main text ofany ‘Hill’s Arrangement’ that was published during their ministry.
For ministers who have died or resigned in the work between 1968 and 1993, there is a typescript list compiled by Revd. William Leary. This also gives the date and place of birth. There is no copy available on the internet but a typescript can be consulted at the Methodist Archives and Research Centre.
