John Andrews, Sr. -- Brunswick Co., VA to Stewart Co., TN
Seeking information about my 6X-Great Grandfather, John Andrews, Sr. who was born ca. 1740 in Brunswick Co., VA, married Mary Scarborough in 1763, relocated to Stewart Co., Tenn. in 1804, and died ca. 1831. Their children included: Alexander, John Jr., David II, Sally Andrews-Clark, Lucretia Andrews-Scarborough, James, George, and Anderson Andrews (my ancestor). John's wife Mary was the daughter of John Scarborough, Sr., who was a descendant of Captain Edmond Scarborough (1584-1634), of Norfolk, England, settling in Accomac Co., VA ca. 1620.
I have a copy of a copy of an old typed letter from James David Andrews, dated Sept. 1928, Nashville, Tenn. In this old letter, Thomas Andrews of London, England ("son of William Andrews, related to Launcelot Andrews, Bishop of London") is said to have had two sons ... William and John, who would have been born ca. 1715-1720, according to other info. in the letter. The two sons came to America when they were 23 and 25 (in the early to mid 1700's??), William had a large family of children, beginning with his first two sons, William and John, ca. 1740. Our John Andrews' birth-date of 1740 fits with this, however, I cannot find any info. on this part of the Andrews family, here on Genforum, or on the other online genealogy sites. Can anyone please shed light on this for me? Thank you!
