John Davies, 5 Park Terrace, Amlwch, 1889
I am trying to research my ancestorr John Davies of Amlwch, Anglesey. The only information I
have is the following inscription :"Rhodd I John Davies 5 Park Terrace, Amlwch gai ei fam Margaret
Owen ar ben ei flwydd o bedwar ar byntheeg. Tachwedd 24 1889" Which apparently means :" To
John Davies 5 Park Terrace Amlwch, by his mother Margaret Owen on his 19th birthday"
Is Park Terrace is standing or has it been redeveloped ? Also there is no mention of his father,
and Margaret refers to herself by what I assume to be her maiden name, is it likely that John was born out of wedlock ?
Finally family tradition relates that John with several friends were drowned of the coast Dulas Bay (?)
Some bodies were washed up as far as Liverpool. John's wife pregnant at the time, named her unborn
son Dulas. This is a name used by both my father and his uncle. Assuming if this story is true, I'd
appreciate any ideas on where to search for additional information.
Of John's sons two immigrated to Canada, Samuel who made a new life in the New World and never
returned, and Tom who returned and died in the late 1970s-early 1980s.
Thanks for any help.
