Seized With Illness Last January and Has Been a Sufferer Ever Since
After an illness dating from last January, Mr. G. B. Apple died at five minuets after 6 o’clock this morning at his home in the northern portion of the city.After an illness of some six months her recovered sufficiently to get out on the streets and come to town, but his strength soon failed him and in a short time he was again confined to the bed of affliction, from which he was destined never to rise.Through-out all his long siege of sickness he bore his suffering with remarkable fortitude and good cheer, and at last, surrounded by his devoted family who had been unremitting in their efforts to restore him to health and strength, he calmly and serenely passed away. Mr. Apple was born in Smith county , Tenn., on May 18, 1849, and was therefore in his 60th year.On December 21, 1871, he married Miss Tennie B. Apple, who although of the same last name was no relation, the marriage taking place at Snow Creek, Tenn.Mr. Apple engaged in the tabacco business until he moved to Texas, in December 1881, settling a few miles east of McKinney where he engaged in farming for a number of years.In 1984 he moved his family to this city where they have since resided, and where he has followed the painting and paper hanging business until prevented by his illness, beginning about the first of the year. He is survived by his wife and the following children:Will B. Apple, Mrs. L. L. Pittman, Sam W. Apple, Mrs. Charlie Dedmon, Boss Apple, Roy and Miss Avo Apple.One daughter died in infancy.All of his children and one sister, Mrs. Susie Essex, of Oklahoma werewith him when he passed away.He is survived by a brother, William Apple, anda sister in Fannin County, a brother Bob Apple, and sister, Mrs. Dolly Glover, of Smith County , Tenn., and another brother,Sam Apple, of Tennessee. Mr. Apple was a faithful, consistent member of the Methodist church and was an upright man and citizen, a kind and indulgent husband and father, and leaves many friends who sincerely mourn his death. Funeral services will be held at the family residence tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock.Interment at Pecan Grove cemetery.
