Most of the information I have is from the census. In 1850 Bridges Arendell, Jr. age 23 and Esther age 22 have Esther’s mother, Serena Bell age 55 and sister Hannah Bell age 24 living with them.
In 1860 Bridges age 32, Sally age 25 and Cara age 3/12 are living with his mother,Sarah Arendellage 73, and sister Matilda age 39 and several nieces and nephews. Also in 1860 Serena Bell age 62 and Hannah L Bellage 35 have ten year old boy named Bridges Arendell living with them.I think there is a good probability that he is Bridges son by Esther.
In 1870 Bridges Arendell age 44 is a Railroad Conductor living with Sally age 30, and girls, Anniee age 5 andToby age 1.Also living with them is Charety Bell age 25.Bridges Arendall age 20 is listed twice living with Church Bell age 22 and family in Jackson County, Missouri, on July 6th in Ward 2 of Kansas City and on August 12 In Westport Twp.Church was the son of Durant H L Bell age 48, the brother of Hannah Bell age 45, who are both living in Kansas City.I couldn’t find this Bridges Arendell in 1880.
I found Bridges Arendell’s obituary at the New Bern Library. In the 'New Berne Daily Times', Wednesday, 16 October 1872, Page 1, Column 2.He was killed on October 15, 1872 in Dover, Craven County, North Carolina when a steam locomotive blew up.It sayed he left a wife and four children, the youngest being 11 months old.It also lists his age as 52(He was probably 45).
I also have an article from the Carteret Co. Historical Society which says Bridges’ wife died within the year after he died leaving three children, Annie Willie, born 1867, James Bridges, born 1869 and Caroline Elizabeth, born 1873.
So far for children of Bridges Arendell born 1827 I have: Bridges born in 1850, mother, Esther Bell born 1849 Cara born in 1860, mother, Sally(Sarah A.) Bell born 1836 Annie Willie born between 1865-67, mother, Sally Bell Toby born about 1869, mother, Sally Bell James born about 1870, mother, Sally Bell Caroline Elizabeth born between 1872-73, mother, Sally Bell
