Decatur County Journal-Iowa Thursday, March 27, l9l9
REBECCA J., daughter of JAMES and SUSAN BIGGS was born in Knox County, December 2nd, l839 and died at the home of her daughter, MRS. LUTHER ARGO, near Pleasanton, March l0, l9l9, being 79 years, 3 months and 8 days old at the time of her death.
She was married in Ohio to BENJAMIN RICHARDSON, August 28, l859, and to this union were born four children, namely; MRS. MILLA ROGERS, CHAS. J. RICHARDSON and MRS. PHILENA ARGO, all residing near Pleasanton. The second child, CLEMENT, died in infancy.
MR. and MRS. RICHARDSON came to Iowa in the early sixties and settled on a farm east of Pleasanton where their son, CHARLES, now lives. They were industrious and helped in the upbuilding of the community where they resided for so many years.
Sister RICHARDSON gave her heart to God's service in her seventeenth year and united with the Baptist Church, afterward while residing here, she heard and accepted the doctrines preached by the Seven Day Adventist and united with the church at Davis City, and remained a faithful member until her death.Services were conducted by Elder George Leffler of Des Moines, assisted by C.V. Starr, at the Christian Union Church in Pleasanton where a house filled with friends and relatives had gathered to pay their respect to the sister who had been to them a close friend and Christian example of a true Christian, and we have all reason to believe that Sister RICHARDSON will be one of the many who will be called when the Life-giver comes to call from graves sleeping saints. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Hamilton Cemetery.
She was a sister of WILLIAM BIGGS, of Leon, and an Aunt of ED BIGGS, also of Leon. She was a great sufferer for many months and like a weary traveler, patiently passed away, March l0.
